JVC HD52G887 52-Inch HDILA Rear Projection TV Details

I've been researching alot over the internet the past few months for my first ever hdtv. At first I wanted to get an LCD and I've been looking at the big names like Sony, Samsung, Sharp etc, but even their 32 in. size hdtv's were over 00! I came across this JVC HD52G887 and it had everything I wanted. It is a hd set. It has a atsc/qam tuner, It's 52 inches! It's under a 1000 dollars!!! This set is DLP which means it is projection, it's not flat in the back. When I got it home it was so easy to hook up. I plugged it in, plugged the cable connection into the back, plugged my xbox 360 and Wii into the back. I love it. I am using my standard Time Warner cable connection to this and It still looks really good! The 360 looks SO good on this set!!! The Wii on the other hand is not too pretty, although I'm not using component cables for it which I heard could help a little. The wii was not meant to look its best in 52" hd. The instruction booklet for the tv is pretty thourough. I followed the step by step of instructions of setting it up and had it working with my cable box in about 5 minutes out of the box. The remote is decent with many features including split screen, freeze, and an input button which easily let's you switch between tv mode and the different video modes that you are using your game systems for. Overall I couldn't be happier, and recommend this set to everyone!

I know olevia make great tv"s because i have the 47"tv by oleiva and like the 52"the 1080p is sharp and makes other 52"tv to high to buy with the same stuff,two thing to "note" the olevia 52" is very very heavy you will need at lease three people to lift it,{note-the tv has good black level but if you want a deeper black level go to the wheel menu/ on it,it has a (black level extender)for that richer deep black}all and all the color, the picture,the sound,and the universal remote makes the olevia 52"tv hard to turn down for that price,why pay more for less...

This model appears to be the same as the TH42PZ85U and was purchased from COSTCO. Ever since purchasing a Panasonic SD9 high definition video camera I have been wishing to upgrade my TV to the HD format. After looking at many LCD and Plasma televisions I found myself drawn to the Panasonic Plasma HDTV. After a six month wait I took the plung and purchased the 42" Panasonic 1080p HD set. I haven't used it for regular television broadcasts yet, but have set it up to play my Blu-ray player(also a Panasonic), an HD player and a DVD recorder. The footage that I have shot with the Panasonic HD camera is nothing short of STUNNING on this set! Watching this footage reminds of the days of 70mm presentations in movie theatres when we saw stunning images from films like "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Sound of Music", "West Side Story", etc. The Blu-ray, HD and HD video all have incredible color, brightness and sharpness. The Panasonic Plasma was not difficult to set up and I'm am very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended!

Love this lcd, after wanting one for a while I began to research which brand to buy. First, i was stuck with Polaroid Lcd 23", but after a few friends told me to pay the extra cash and get a samsung, due to its contrast and HDMI, I just went to circuitcity and began to look at them. First, I was confused which one to buy. I didn't know which one to buy, between the 23" and the 26" I had no clue. That is until the sells lady told me that the 26" was discontinued and that the one they had was an open box special. I was thinking about it and was worried that maybe it was a bad LCD screen, so I just bought warranty for it and took it home. The first time I set it up I notice that right out of the box it was a little red in color. After 3 days of going over the colors, the contrast, the bright, and on and on. It was so awesome when I got the color just right!! DVDs looks nice and my PS2 looks so awesome on it, be warned! some PS2 games do not look well on it, but kingdom hearts 2 sure looks sweet!! Anywho, after you go over the settings and get the colors right you will be happy with this samsung Lcd screen.

And if you already have it...I'll give you the best color settings for your samsung LCD screen right here!!

I read review after review about my Mitsubishi 65-inch HDTV before I swiped my credit card to the tune of ,400 and I must say the previous reviewers didn't mislead me about this TV. If you don't plan on subscribing to an HD service through Direct TV or your local cable provider, don't bother purchasing this tube. On the other hand, if that's the only reason you're looking to purchase it, do it ... NOW ... before your local Best Buy or other electronics store runs out. The picture quality of this TV - when powered by Direct TV HD - is nothing short of remarkable! Without it, I think I would just assume watch my 27-inch Sharp. It's just another big-screen television then. Watching HD broadcasted programing on this TV is incredible. Golf. Basketball. Baseball. Ice hockey. I just can't get over how much fun it is to watch these sports on this HDTV. Moreover, it's incredibly easy to move around, given how light it is. I guess the only thing you will have to keep in mind, should you pull the trigger on this Mitsubishi product: you won't be able to watch it for long, or should I say listen to it, if you don't invest in some type of home theater system. The speakers are really, really weak. I think I lasted three days before I purchased a nice wireless speaker system by Sony.

I definitely recommend this TV to anyone looking to upgrade to 1080p in a small affordable package. I mainly use this to play xbox 360 games which look unbeleivably better in 1080p than 480fuzz. All this throught a component cable too; someone told me at circuit city that you couldn't get 1080p through component, but Microsoft's website said you could, and I am viewing xbox games in 1080p...so...it always pays to get a 2nd opinion. 5 inputs, with two hdmi, gives you a bunch of options, and for 800 bucks, this tv is a very good bargain. I will be in the market for a 52 aquos for the living room very soon. A Sony or Samsung will give you a nice picture too, but Sharp was cheaper, and as much as i love the 1080p pic versus the SD, i couldn't tell that any brand was superior to the other. So price and inputs were the big one for me. This tv is small; you'll want to be no more than 8 feet away, but it is perfect for a gaming tv or a bedroom tv. 1080i comcast cable is extremely bright and vivid over the 480i standard cable. What are you waiting for?? :)

The number one reason why I got this unit was for the size and the wireless HD capabilities.
I hang this unit over the fireplace with Sanus VMPL50B wallmount.
The TV is about 60lbs, so you will need a friend to help you hang it up on the wall.
The screws for wall mounting was already attach to the TV which was great.
Once I have on the wall and after I plug in the power behind the TV, NO MORE other wires are needed. I put the wireless media box which came with the set about 10 feet away with no direct line of sight and was able to show HD tv with great clarity WIRELESSly... this is a great feature.

I have wireless phone, internet and head sets which did not cause any interference with this TV.

The 55LHX's lg logo on the TV is where the TV's receiver is, so if you stand right in front, you will see some static or no picture as you are no blocking the signal. But, I will know to avoid to stand right in front of the TV :)

The viewing angle is good, I tilt it downwards about 12 degrees for less glare. The TV screen do not reflect much, but the black frame does.

Just a note, with the 240HZ True motion on, sports looks very life like; but on movies it looks 3D ish, so shut I had to shut it off. Now I know why a 240Hz tv can possibly view 3d movies.

I have a Pioneer plasma which still looks way better than this TV, but this TV is as good if not better than my sharp Aquos. So, maybe its a settings thing.

There are lots of settings, but I have yet to find the best one, so please leave me a comment if you know what the best settings are....

We have had the Vizio 55" LED for several weeks now and have been thoroughly impressed. Picture quality is top notch. Everything from standard definition programming to HD programming has looked good on this TV. I had to make very few tweaks to the settings out of the box. Vizio got it right with this set. Can't say much for the audio quality. Like all audio on TVs, there is little bass and the audio just doesn't sound great. We have a home theatre setup, so the audio isn't a factor for us. It is a heavy set and it does wobble on it's base, but it seems secure enough. Haven't tried Blu-Ray with it, so cannot comment on that. It does play back media files through USB great though. Tried pictures, audio, and even video files and as long as you have the right codecs, the playback is crisp and smooth. Highly recommend this TV.

I bought the Philips 27PS55S...The TV has a great picture and sound. The preset sound and picture controls are nice. The "personal" setting for each is adjustable with the on-screen menu (I adjusted the picture with a color bar generator- looks great). The TV offers many connections. S-video and two sets of composite-in and one set of composite-out. The location of one set of composite-in plugs is one the side (I like that better than in the front) along with a headphone jack. I am connected to cable and find the picture quality varies, depending on the channel as transmitted by Comcast. You can set the TV from the menu manually for the type signal or automatically to detect the type signal. I have mine set for automatic so when the cable goes out the TV automatically switches to receiving broadcast format using the cable line as an antenna. Of course not all local stations are picked up with this method. I should use an A_B switch for a real antenna until the cable comes back on but that is usually 5 minutes. The picture from this method is good for the stations this makeshift antenna provides and OK for 5 minutes. The DVD and VCR pictures are great. The composite sound outputs are nice but are not controlled by the volume control of the set. I have them connected to powered speakers which allows me to control the volume with a knob. Althought the speakers with the TV are just fine by themselves. I also keep the TV well ventilated as hot electronics breakdown quicker. I hope not to have the problems as some of these other people have had. I will revise my review if I do. The reason I didn't give this TV 5 stars is that is the best and nothing is the best. But for the features, the price and the screen size it is mighty close.

I purchased this set a little over a year ago. It has been a good set and displays HD content well. It only had 1 HDMI port but it can be overcome with a splitter. The colors are vivid but the black areas could be better. But it's not a deal breaker.
About a month ago it wouldn't turn on. I called Olevia customer service and they agreed to repair it for free even though it was 2 months out of warranty. They even paid for shipping. I've read reviews about people who have had bad experiences with Syntax Brillian/Olevia. But they have been more than accommodating to me.
I would recommend this Tv even though the power board failed just after a year. But since it was repaired for free i can't complain too much. Hope this helps.

We just received this tv today, having purchased it after tons of exhaustive research. Set-up was a cinch, and it looks fantastic. It was also relatively easy to program the remote to work with our DVD player so that we can only use one remote. We are planning to use it with a DVD, a PS2, and a laptop (for streaming netflix), and all of that seems just great--still waiting for our hdmi cord to test the laptop.

The only issue is that the tv emits a buzzing sound when it's on. We were able to trace this sound to the backlight setting, and on "movie" setting it's the lowest (but still quite audible). I called and spoke with a technician who says that this is normal. It's most annoying when the tv is on mute, but we probably won't sit around with it on mute. I may be calling back to see if there is another solution. If so I'll update. Does anyone else have this issue?
