I can still remember the jump from a SDTV to this HDTV "without a tuner". This TV might not be the highest resolution, but it is a great buy. I remember hooking my Tivo system to it, and the picture was so much better, without any HDTV programming. For games, it's great. You can adjust the color and video noise reduction if you have several things hooked up to your television. I just bought a Nintendo Wii, along with HDTV cables. The games look really good on this TV. I approve this buy. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because of the lack of resolution sizes.

Well count me surprised - I really didn't expect this product to work as well as it does.

Here's my situation: I wanted a TV in the kitchen, but I didn't want to drill a hole through concrete flooring or snake an existing cable all the way around one room and then into the kitchen. Being in a "minimalist" high-tech loft, it would have looked really bad.

So, I went on a limb and bought this TV ...

I had read that someone said to change the wireless settings to "Automatic 5GHz" and that's what I did (to avoid using the overloaded 2.4GHz band - also used by cordless phones, microwaves etc.)

Result: I have the base station in the living room, and I get perfect reception in my kitchen about 20 feet away. I only lost the connection once, when I put the display behind the refridgerator (duh!) I also walked all over the 3 floor loft (1500 sf) with it and it works everywhere!

I realize some people are looking for even longer ranges (including outdoors), but I only need it to go a maximum of about 30 to 40 feet and it works fine for me.

Once you've had a wireless TV, you begin to think of new uses for it ... If guests stay in my spare room, I can just hand them the display for them to watch TV in bed. If I don't want to annoy my partner who is sleeping, I can go to the living room and take the display with me for a little late night viewing. If I feel like a little TV while having a snack, I can put it on my dining table and watch while I munch!

The system is so cool. Yes, it is not perfect, but it is still the best thing out there I have found so far.

It also has a built-in web browser and can talk out through your internet connection, surf the web, check email. It's touchscreen and comes with a little stylus.

Granted, the user interface is a bit computer-like, but I had no problems with it.

You can use a Sony remote (I have one) with the display to change the channels, volume etc. It will also relay IR signals back to the base station, which will use an IR blaster to relay back to your set-top box (very cool, but haven't used this yet).

It can even connect up to the internet and "phone home" to the base station (as long as it is also connected to the internet) and if you have a fast enough uplink (380 kbps) it can send the TV signal anywhere in the world. Pretty amazing (no, I haven't tried this).

Yes, it is only 800 x 600 (which is still better than standard def TV) and doesn't do HDTV, but it is only 12".

There are no component inputs, which might be considered a downside for some ... but then, it is more about convenience than producing some incredible high-def picture. It has cable, composite and s-video inputs (plus RCA audio inputs).

If you search the web you can find the Operating Manual as a .PDF. I did this - there's lots of information in it and you can get an idea whether it is right for you.

It really is a preview of things to come. In 5 years or so, everything in your house will be wireless. This just does it today.

Very, very cool and it works fabulously for me. I'm a very happy customer with this product.

Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-65835 65-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Glossy Black)

Reviews Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-65835 65-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Glossy Black)

Products by : Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-65835 65-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Glossy Black) Details

I just got a WD65837 to replace an old 50" Samsung DLP who's color wheel started screaming to be put out of it's misery. I was originally going to get a WD60737 (after I had decided on another DLP set), until I learned it did not have the PerfectTint feature (which allows finite adjustment of each of the 6 colors the set uses). So for a minimal increase in price I went with the larger, more feature rich 837 line.

Something I find note worthy is the ultra thin bezel on the Mitsubishi DLP sets. I had looked at all technologies when I did my comparison shopping, and had I gone with anything else (Plasma, LCD, LED/LCD), I would have been limited to a 58" or 60" set given the horizontal space I had to work with. Thanks to the bezel size I was able to go up 5 more inches in size.

Having had a DLP prior to this I was familiar with what to expect from the picture quality. On average I find that DLP is on par with Plasma, and on some less expensive plasmas the DLP is superior. Before deciding on the WD65837 I did side by side comparisons with a Panasonic TC-P65V10 (I was considering the 58" version of this as a possibility). Side by side the biggest differences are the way the sets are lighted (the Plasma seeming more uniform from different angles, while the DLP requires viewing from directly in front of the set for the best image... which is a long known quirk of the technology), and the Mitsubishi colors were far more vibrant (read: need adjusting) than the Panasonic (which seemed dull and lifeless in comparison).
I do a lot of video and photo work, and as such have a particular taste when it comes to color. I do not really like colors that "pop", and prefer warm natural colors calibrated to around 6500k.
While out of the box the Panasonic did a better job at this, I knew the Mitsubishi had a ton of options that would allow me to do the calibration I needed. Side by side though, with their factory default settings, the Mitsubishi DLP (priced at 99) was on par with the Panasonic Plasma (at 99) in terms of sharpness, noise, contrast, etc. In fact, I noticed that background detail on the Mitsubishi was much more sharp and detailed than the Panasonic (which seemed slightly blurry in comparison). The Mitsubishi's red level was clearly too high (colors can be easily adjusted), but the picture quality of the Panasonic Plasma (to spite better default color settings and viewing angle) did not seem worth the 00 price difference.

After getting the set home and having time to adjust everything, I was able to get my color calibrated to 6504k. Not perfect, but it's on par with the PC monitors I use at work and home (hardware calibrated NEC MultiSync 90 Series).

Also of note is the rainbow effect, or rather the lack of it. DLP's (at least the early generations) were known for having a sort of rainbow effect around edges that were often perceivable when moving your eyes back and forth very quickly, for instance when gaming or watching an action movie. I was able to see this effect in my old set, though I actively had to try and make it happen to do so. With this Mitsubishi there is NO RAINBOW at all. I've tried several times to see it, but only ended up making myself sick from moving my eyes around too much. I'm sure there is a way to do so using a video camera set to the same refresh rate as the set, but as far as my perception is concerned, I can not see it no matter how hard I try.

So, as far as picture is concerned you really can't find a better one at this size for the same price. Even if you went down in size you would likely end up paying 00 more for a plasma with similar image quality.
That said, I do have a few issues to talk about.

First, the remote control is a pain to use. Navigating the TV's options is done with this small circular button with left, right, up, down arrows. This is a normal control for a remote to have, but the issue is that the edge of the thing is rather pointy. Add to that the fact there is another button right in the middle of this circle that is raised quite a bit, and has it's own pointy corners. Both of these put together makes navigating the on screen menus a real pain. While I think it is a minor issue, others will not, especially if they use that part of the remote a lot.

Second is the on screen display itself. To be honest, the menu can be a bit annoying to navigate at times and could have been streamlined a little more. The issue with the remote as mentioned above likely makes it seem worse than what it really is though.
Also, there are certain things that the average user will not want to touch. I for one love the amount of control I have over color, gamma, image position, etc... but for most they would simply be confused and overwhelmed with so many options.

Third, and last, is the audio quality... or rather the lack of it. I'll say this as simply as I can... the audio SUCKS! It truly does... no ifs ands or buts.
It is very likely that anyone getting a set of this size will have some sort of surround sound or alternative speaker system setup for output (as I do). Still, it would be nice if the set was capable of producing a better sound using it's own speakers.
I tend to use this set for everything. Watching standard and HD cable, Gaming, DVD's and Bluray movies. But I generally do not use my surround speakers when watching cable, unless it's an on-demand movie or something.
As is stands the speakers in this set sound like garbage. Size isn't the issue either, as my 17" notebook seems to have better sound (out of smaller, lower powered speakers) than this TV does.

In general the set looks fantastic (the housing, etc). Construction seems to be what you would expect a DLP set to be (the plastic seems better than that of my old set). The menu and settings are very feature rich, but can be a little overwhelming for those that don't know what they are doing. Picture quality is superb, being beaten only by Plasma's or LED/LCD's costing thousands more. And the sound quality (of the sets speakers) is a joke.
Overall the only truly bad thing about the set are the speakers, which won't be an issue for most.

I am delighted with the Magnavox HDTV/CD player. Unlike other reviews on this product, I received no assistance from the delivery person. I'm 72 with rheumatoid arthritis, so it was a (painful) stretch. But I set it up myself with the help of the excellent instructions included. Both TV and CD player are working as advertised.

I bought the 720 and doubt I could tell the difference with a 1080. So save yourself some money. This is an excellent buy.Magnavox 32MD359B/F7 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with Built In DVD Player

Toshiba 37AV502U 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Details

I WANT TO LOVE THIS TV AND I'M SURE i WILL, ONCE i FIND ONE THAT DOES NOT HUM. I am typically a higher end consumer electronics customer. I own 3 other Toshiba flat screens-one for bathroom, one for family room one for bedroom, a Sony flat screen in my study and a Vizio for a guest room. Also own Toshiba DVD players. I needed a 37" in my master bedroom so I went with a familiar brand and I did tons of hands (and eyes) on research. The only bad Toshiba product I've dealt with in the past was a laptop (poor customer service), until now...

First I'll cut to the chase and tell you how it is. You will NOT find a better LCD HDTV over 32" in this price range with this many features that provides high-end picture quality while providing at least entry level inputs/flexibility. In ths category, Sony and Toshiba design their TVs but buy LCDs from a supplier. Samsung and LG make their own. People are going to tell you Samsung 32" + are the way to go and I can tell you first hand (I returned 2 Samsungs) they are not, unless you go LED or DLDP. Samsung has great vibrant colors and noticable contrast, BUT they do it artificially through playing with black levels--there is a great article on Toshiba vs. Sony vs. Samsung and Toshiba LCDs came out on top in terms of real lifelike picture reproduction. I noticed the Toshiba is far better at home than in the store and could not be happier with the picture. Once you fine tune where you need it to be, it is crystal clear, bright and sparkling...love the picture.

Sound is fine, for stock speakers on the TV it does the job well.

here lies the issue: You may get the humming sound as other describe. here is why: The backlight is florescent and turned up past 50 through 100 backlight level you will hear ballast/inverter noise. For me it is unbearable, especially in a bedroom. The only way to service this is to replace the entire LCD panel kit...you dont want to do this. So, I am taking mine back in hopes of an exchange for one that does not hum...

The issue is the inverter/ballast. Not all will be the same. Depends how tight they drill down. I'm just crossing my fingers that I find one that will allow me to adjust backlight very high without humming so much...I'll keep trying b/c th epicture is great at any price.

The TV is perfect for a small room (bedroom, dorm, kitchen, etc) and should not be compared to much larger units. The picture is brilliant in HD with vivid colors. Setup was easy. And the sound is ok, not great. But remember, small TV's have small speakers. In this model, two 3watt speakers. With some adjustment, the sound was passable. Decent volumn but no base. Most of the reviews on this model, as well as other small TV's rate sound as mediocre. Not the case. Once you see the fantastic picture, you expect a rich base sound experience to accompany a movie. Get real. You can always add bookshelf speakers. I am very happy with the purchase.

I had this TV for 2 years in my 15 x 16 foot living room. Sat on a large entertainment center that could support the 240lbs it weighed. Was a monster to get in place but I thought "i'll never move it again for a long time." Picture is just incredible and the sound was also very good. I hardly did watch TV as it was and didn't use it alot in the 2 years but always enjoyed showing off the HD picture channels on the TV to friends. One nite w/ my g/f we were watching a DVD and when it was over I went to switch the video mode back to TV and there was no sound. I too had very similiar experience as did James above. I was told by Sony to deal w/ Circuit City since my warranty was out from Sony but still good w/ Circuit city. thank god I bought the extended. The repair company showed up in a few days and looked at it for 30 min, tryin to reset, thinkin forever that it was the mute button or a wire was off on the back. He told me he never saw a sony tv w/ no sound like this. He said "there is only 2 circuit boards in it and it has to be one of them that is bad." so he was gonna order parts. 3 weeks i heard nothing from him and tried callin him w/ no call back. I had to go to circuit city to get an answer and the store manager was very helpful. He found out that the guy didn't call me cause he was waiting on an answer from sony. He had no idea what was wrong w/ my tv so he called sony to ask them. Seems to me that not many service companies want to work on these tv's from what I am reading from reviews. I too must be the one in a million that had a fluke tv, but now they no longer sell this tv and I would have to go w/ the 34" wega. LCD and plasma just don't interest me cause of the problems they too have and there life spans. I am currently after 2 1/2 months of the tv broke waitin on a confirmation number from this "Todds electronics" so I can get my store credit and pick something else out. I will miss this TV alot and hope that the 34 will be close to the same screen size. I have found my tv online still available but circuit city only lets u do store credit. NOw I have to go through moving this Tv again thinkin I wouldn't be doing this for a long time.. LOL IF i could get another one though I would, because it's a great tv and I guess I was just the one in a million w/ a bad one.

I bought this for the exclusive purpose of dismantling it from its stand and making a little monitor I could use with a Mac Mini that I brought with me on vacation last year. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that not just the base is plastic space filler, but the majority of the surrounding as well. Perhaps being so much larger than the actual screen helps the speakers, which need space behind them to sound good, but I didn't use the audio feature of this TV at all, really. Seemed good, but I didn't listen enough to rate it.

Instead of as a TV, I used its SVGA plug - a truly awesome feature, Digital TVs shouldn't ever be sold without computer-compatible inputs. To give the electronics some structure other than the screen itself, I joined the two metal endplates of the screen's edge support with a sheet of polycarbonate from Home Depot that I had drilled holes in all the appropriate places, so I could reposition the button circuit board on the back of the unit, with the buttons slightly recessed.

I used SwitchResX to set up the 800x480 resolution; can't remember the exact settings but it was pretty easy to make the custom resolution, way way easier than it ever was in Linux.

End result: a full fledged computer that fit into a box smaller than any laptop does, with power supplies monitor, and even speakers for the beeps. Smaller box than even those new "minis" from Dell or HP can fit into! (laptop minis flat, but broad..) I think it was a Sony picture frame box, actually.

Still works and looks good too, even thru all that abuse. So if you are gonna use it regularly with a computer, and leave it in the case, I'm sure it'd last a long time.

I wouldn't rave about this TV at all. There's nothing spectacular about it in any way. It's completely average, but that's what I bought it for. We picked up this TV to use with our treadmill so we were really just looking for something with a decent price. This one was the lowest price and met the specifications we wanted.

Having said that, I am completely satisfied. It has a digital tuner so it picked up all the "over-the-air" channels just fine. However, the process was ridiculously long. It took probably around an hour to auto-program the TV channels. I didn't clock it. I just walked away and then the TV popped on so much later that I had completely forgot it was working.

The picture is fine. It's not the best, but it's good enough. The sound is a bit lacking though. At its loudest, you can't even hear it over the treadmill so we have to hook up headphones to it, which is fine. Sound quality is average.

Other than that, this TV DOES have an HDMI output. I know one reviewer was complaining that it didn't, but maybe he got an older model. The one I got definitely has an HDMI port though I believe the model number might be HDLCD1912a. I suppose they don't make the plain 1912 anymore, I don't know. For this TV, though, with it's average quality, an HDMI cable is really just a convenience of having one cable and not something you need to get maximum sound and video quality.

So, if you're looking for something simple to throw in your kitchen or in your workout room or something like that, then this is the way to go. But if you're looking for something for your Xbox or Playstation or as your main TV, then I would suggest spending a little bit more money and getting a better device. This one is sure NOT to wow anyone, but it will get the job done.

Love it, picture is great. I use this as 3rd computer monitor at work for large group reviews, as well as occasionally a TV. People are blown away by the HD picture from an antenna.
Love it, very happy.
I also purchased the dedicated Samsung hanging hardware looking for a slim look. Paid a fortune but it was supper easy to install. Look on U-tube for a 7 min video which goes through the hanging process, the included instructions are poor. You can thank me later.
One nit picking complaint, I had an outlet installed on wall. The power cord is now way too long and makes the TV stick out from the wall more than it is supposed to.
As to 120 vs. 240 in the store you can see a difference as you can see with edge vs. backlit LED. For my purpose no reason to pay more when this TV rocks.
Only thought, if this was my only TV and I was a super picky person I would splurge for the 240 and backlit. However, I suggest you go to the store and compare them side to side.
Not like the 120 has a bad picture, the Difference is a great vs. a super picture.
Bottom line,
Great TV good buy.

I have had this TV four days and it has passed all acceptance tests. Dealing with a sub-contractor (Home Theater Store) of the merchant is a bit annoying and would be troublesome if there were damage or defects, but that did not happen. The tests were all run with a new Sony BDPS360 blu-ray player. I bought these products for the up-conversion of my collection of classic, irreplacable, out-of-print dance videos. The results so far are excellent.

The oldest performances (e.g. the American in Paris ballet) look much better, showing much more detail of costumes, backgrounds, and expressions. Minelli reds no longer bleed. The image is somewat distorted; perhaps tinkering with the settings would help this. There is no technical information provided by Sony to help you with this.

The newer dance videos (e.g. Kirov Dances Nijinsky) are breathtaking, better than a live performance in many respects when the camera work is first-rate.

The only Blu-ray disc I have tested (the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes) did not show much improvement over the upconverted DVD videos.

The TV and player are very easy to use -- just load the disc and the player takes over the TV and figures out how to play it. It was easy to attach the stand. On the other hand, the setup instructions for the TV are wrong for satellite TV service.

Today I called HP about the issue with Pixilation and flaring on my HP PL4260N. I was pleased to get a representative that took care of my problem. I guess she knew about the problem with the units. She scheduled to have the part shipped and within 2 days and the repair technician is scheduled to be here 2 days later. She did express to me that the unit was out of warranty but they are fixing it free of charge. Go HP!...This program is available for 12 months from the date your original one year limited warranty expires or through January 31, 2009, whichever is soonerHere is the link.[..]

Sony KV-27V66 27" Trinitron TV

Reviews Sony KV-27V66 27" Trinitron TV

Products by : Sony

Top Model : KV27V66

Rating Reviews : 3.0

Sony KV-27V66 27" Trinitron TV Details

...I did a lot of comparison shopping before buying. So here is my opinion of this TV.

The picture and sound are great. I've never had a problem with either. The remote is lightweight and easy to use. This TV has plenty of inputs and outputs including front A/V inputs. The screen is fairly flat compared to other 27 inch televisions. The favorite channel feature is really nice as is the picture-in-picture.

Before buying this TV, I spent a lot of time looking at specifications and reading reviews. Here is a little advice from my research.

1. Don't confuse this model with the KV-27S66. The KV-27S66 has only 5W/channel where the KV-27V66 has 10W/channel. That's one reason I went with this model. I didn't want my speakers to rattle (and they haven't).

2. On Sony's website, they indicate in the specifications that there is a front S-Video input, then later say there isn't. Which is right? There is no front S-Video input.

3. Don't be fooled by some of the advertised bells and whistles. For example, freeze memo and speed surf don't work the way they are advertised. That doesn't matter to me, but I thought you might like to know.

4. Because this television is so heavy and can't be shipped through normal UPS, shipping can take a long time, especially if you don't live in a big city....

There are a lot of other 27 inch televisions on the market for a lot less money, but I was willing to pay the extra money for the Sony name and all the other little bonuses like multiple inputs/outputs, 2 tuner PIP, and quality speakers.

If you are looking for a quality television set and are willing to pay 0-600, then I would definitely recommend the Sony KV-27V66.

Received the TV a few weeks ago. Amazon delivery was fabulous. They unpacked and set up, even helped take the old stand into another room for me.

Picture is great, easy to understand remote. I set up my Bose Wave radio for speakers and it is a few tads below surround sound. The sound quality of the TV is average to above average. However, since I had the radio I figured I would give it a whirl. I did upgrade to a Monster Cable. I am not really sure it was worth the extra cost. I am electronically challenged and hate change and I do not have any problems understanding this set.

I researched the internet for hours doing price comparisons, quality, warranty, etc and found this brand, model and size were the best value for my family and myself. If you are on the fence between two TV's, buy this one!

Sharp Aquos LC-30HV4U 30-Inch LCD Flat-Panel HD-Ready TV

Products by : Sharp

Top Model : LC-30HV4U

Sharp Aquos LC-30HV4U 30-Inch LCD Flat-Panel HD-Ready TV Details

Well, I'm an unhappy shopper! This 30" widescreen LCD from Sharp was the one I really wanted to buy, after salivating over it many times at my local Best Buy, but because it was well over two grand (plus I was unemployed), so I could only look but not own. Finally I got a cheaper Olevia set, which I'm happy with, but now that Amazon has lowered the price on this Sharp, I wish I had waited. The Sharp's image quality and overall reliability makes it worth the several extra hundred dollars.

Ok, enough venting from me. In case you haven't compared the various LCD TVs from different brands in person, there's no doubt that Sharp's LCD offerings are among the best. Compared to other brands (including my beloved Syntax Olevia), Sharp offers these following advantages:

- Top-of-class image quality. Well some other companies may cite higher contrast or brightness in their tech specs, none offers the same kind of image quality that you'll perceive *subjectively* as Sharp's high-end LCD TVs. Whether it's live sports or the latest DVD movies, the Sharp just does it better. Maybe they use better liquid crystals, or (more likely) better signal processors, Sharp LCDs just give you a better picture.

- Better black-level details than other brands. LCD TVs are notorious for failing to reproduce details in the dark end of the spectrum. If you enjoy movies with lots of dark scenes, you should probably stick with a CRT like Sony's Trinitron. The new Sharp models are better than most, though.

- More refined styling and user interface. Older Sharp Aquos models had the typical first-generation bland looks, but the latest models are stylish and cool.

- Better reliability. I speak this from experience (my own and my friends'). LCD monitors (like all other monitors) have limited bulb life. Almost all LCD TVs you'll encounter now claim "up to 60,000 hours" of bulb life. But when you compare the Sharp with a Syntax or Westinghouse or HP or LG, you'll notice that the Sharp has a more solid feel, which gives you more confidence over its life span than with the other brands. (If you are a Mac or Sony fan, you know what I'm talking about.)

I think if money is tight but you still want an LCD TV, you should consider the Syntax Olevia model. But for the best LCD TV money can buy, get a Sharp. This 30" is good if your viewing distance is less than 8 feet -- a rule of thumb is the you should get a screen size four times the viewing distance. If you want a bigger screen, LCD TVs aren't the answer yet -- the 37" Sharp Aquos costs twice as much as this 30" model! For bigger screens you may want to consider a plasma (Hitachi and Panasonic and Pioneer are the best) or (gasp!) DLP or LCD-based rear projection TV. But for freedom from screen burn-in, better image quality than plasma, and thinness, LCD is the way to go, and this Sharp, at the new price, is simply the best.

We bought this TV the day after Black Friday of 2007 from a local retail store. It was simple and easy to set up and use right away. It has been over 2 years now and the TV has not had one single problem at all. The picture quality is fantastic, especially in HD, and the sound isn't bad either. It has all the connections I will ever need, and they are fairly easy to access. I have a Yamaha home theater system, Dish network DVR receiver and a Wii connected to the TV and all work flawlessly! The remote works great and functions exactly as it should. We did not wall mount it and it looks great on the stand that we bought for it. I also like the fact that the TV is very easy to clean and dust does not cling to it like the other LCD TV we own.

I don't know...maybe this TV will break someday like the other reviewers have stated. For what I paid for this TV, I have absolutely no complaints! It has been a fantastic TV up until this point and I hope it stays that way for a long time!

One last note - I have all of my electronic devices plugged into a high quality surge protecter. Mine is a Monster one designed for home theater. A friend told me about these a few years back and I think it does make a difference when there are spikes in the power. The cheaper surge protectors just do not protect your devices as well...

Hope this review helps someone!

Mitsubishi LT-52149 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projector Details

I was able to view this set at a local Circuit City, and I was really impressed with this set. This is a high-end LCD screen that does not have the annoying white "glare" that many other LCDs have - the glare that makes it (for some) impressive in an in-store demo but probably annoying when you get it home and watch it for an extended period of time. Bright whites are good, but not when they have an unnatural glare to them.

I was there to look at the Panasonic 800U 50" Plasma (great THX mode and skin tones,) which I also recommend and probably plan to buy, but this screen kept catching my eye due to its excellent color, picture quality and image "naturalness." I would definitely consider this screen and compare it to higher-end Samsung LCD displays if I were in the market for an LCD, and am posting this review because you don't hear much about Mitsubishi LCDs but this display (and I imagine its 46" and non-sound-bar variants) is pretty remarkable and has some unique qualities I have not seen on other LCDs. The only screens that I've been genuinely impressed with are the 60" Pioneer Kuro Plasma, The Panasonic 800U 50" Plasma, some *very* high end Samsung LCD screens (-K), and this Mitsubishi screen.

I would describe this LCD as looking almost like a "DLP done right" - the cinematic quality of DLP with a super-wide viewing angle, and offering the clarity of and LCD, but not the artificial contrasty quality of an LCD. If no one told you this screen was an LCD, you might think it was some kind of high-quality plasma or next-gen DLP screen. Definitely worth looking at. I think it's a pretty unique screen.

[EDIT] - Another thing I forgot to mention - this screen has a high-quality *matte* (not a reflective) finish which seems to work very well. This may be why it sort of reminds me of a DLP from the future, since they typically have matte screens. A matte screen is what I think may give it that "cinematic" quality as movie and projector screens are generally always matte and not reflective like a typical LCD screen. Reflective screens tend to make the blacks look deeper and improve contrast, but I didn't feel like a reflective screen would have improved this TV.

This is my second Samsung DLP HDTV. I bought it in February, 2009 and still own it. The colors and resolution are better than the previous DLP that I owned (the earlier on was based on a color wheel, which after 5 years had to be replaced) - this one is LED based which (in theory) should last longer. I also own a Panasonic Plasma (50") and have compared it with the Plasma side-by-side. The Plasma TV has more enhanced colors whereas the Samsung has more natural colors.
I usually watch sports or movies and have not seen any video lag - the close-up resolution is excellent. I do not use the speakers that are on the TV but have connected the TV to a Yamaha surround sound receiver using HDMI and audio cables - also have a Blu-Ray DVD player connected and even when I play regular DVDs they seem to be very sharp. I'm not sure if that is because of the Blu-Ray player or because of the TV.
What I like about the TV in addition to the above is that is light enough to be moved by one person. The delivery person was very good - he and his helper unpacked and placed the TV where I wanted it and did a basic test to see that everything was working.
When watching movies, either DVD based or from cable - the HD rendering is excellent - very sharp, blacks are blacks and with very natural colors.
All in all, I would strongly recommended this TV brand - my first Samsung DLP worked flawlessly for 5 years before I sold it and this one has worked flawlessly since I bought it in Feb of this year - the build quality rivals that of the other prestigious Japanese brands with a price that is a fraction of what you will pay for similar plasma or LCD TVs.

We bought this TV back in 2006 and it still looks great. It doesn't do 1080p, but at least it does 1080i. We don't have a blueray player and we actually got rid of HD cable service because it was so expensive (waiting for FiOS to hit our area) so we just have cheap cable and a rabbit Ear antenna, but it picks up HD signals over the air and the look great. We connect a laptop up to the TV to watch a lot of videos on HULU and they all look awesome, just as good as when we had an HD box and were DVRing the shows, except now we don't have to set the schedule.

I don't think this model is available anymore, i'm sure Samsung has a comparible model now.

Samsungs seem to be a bit more expensive but to this day still look better than most of the other TVs out there. I don't forsee us upgrading our TV for quite a while as this TV has all the connections we'd need and is big enough for our living room.

My friend just bought a very similar 22" and another friend just bought a similar 42" all from Samsung and they love them.

.....just call Amazon back, and they'll send you a new one that day. I ordered this TV on Black Friday after extensive research and comparison to similar models. The TV arrived as scheduled, but the delivery guys refused to set up and test it because "it was too cold". Whatever. I plugged it in and....nothing. D.O.A. I scoured the internetz and prayed to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, but I failed. Called Amazon that day, and the Rep had a new one shipped within the hour, tracking info and all. A week later, got the new one and told the delivery guy I would not sign until we checked it. I had boxed up the first one, and they took it. Well, it's been perfect for 2 weeks now. Amazing motion blur reduction compared to LCD. As long as you don't place it in direct sunlight there's no glare. I have my PS3 and HDDVR running through a Sony Reciever via HDMI, all run by a Harmony One Remote, and it is so intuitive my 4 year old can run my set-up all day. Visiting a site like the AVS Forums will help you tweak the settings to your liking...I suggest running a calibration disc of some sort for optimal picture. I finished my Polk 5.1 set up with this TV as well, and I'm in home theater heaven! Highly Recommended, especially if bought through Amazon.

I've had this TV/DVD Combo for over two months, and I am very pleased with it. The picture is great, and I like the way the DVD operates. The only thing that is slightly annoying is the complicated remote. The price was great, just under 0, and there isn't a better bargain out there.
Update: The DVD part lasted until November, then quit. The TV is still fine, but I can no longer watch DVDs on it. That was my main reason for getting it--to take up less space in my bedroom. It's a bummer that it broke; it had very light use, certainly not every night and only one movie a day. Lesson learned.
